The island of Prvić, which belongs to Šibenik
archipelago, is about half a mile away from land and it makes it one of the islands closest to the
coast. The area of the island totals 2.37 km2 and it is 3.1 km long from Cape St.Luce to Cape
St.Ante.
It was inhabited in the early Middle-Ages and it is believed that its name comes from the old Croatian spring god Prvica or Prvina.

Prvić Luka is situated on the southeast side of the
island, in a naturally well protected bay called Luka. In 1461 Croatian Catholic priests who used the Glagolitic missal came and built the church of St.Mary with the
monastery.
